Scientific subjects

The school has a science laboratory with a physics-chemistry section, as well as a biology and earth sciences section. Here, students learn experimental science in a hands-on way, by carrying out experiments themselves. The laboratory is regularly stocked throughout the year according to teachers' needs. Throughout the year, students take part in numerous field trips to Geneva's various laboratories and museums, including Chimiscope, Bioscope, PhysiScope, Mathscope and the Museum of the History of Science. Our teachers also work closely with the University of Geneva, giving our students access to its laboratories and those of the University Medical Center. They also take part in conferences organized by these institutions.

"As a biology teacher, I was first surprised by the presence of such a well-equipped laboratory at the school."

biology teacher

Languages

Language skills are an integral part of the educational program: French, English (with preparation for Cambridge exams) and Hebrew from 3P, then German from 5P and, if desired, Italian in secondary school. The working language is French, and the study of classical literary texts is an integral part of the curriculum. English literature is studied throughout the secondary school maturity years, as is German and/or Italian literature.

In class, we study what are commonly referred to as “classics”, which are, in fact, nothing more than essential works of art! La Chanson de Roland, Tristan et Iseult, Rabelais's Gargantua, Montaigne's Essais, but also Ronsard, Hugol's dramas and poems, Maupassant, Zola, mainly studied as complete works. These works are studied against the backdrop of the history of French literature, from humanism to the present day.

Cinematic culture is equally rich, and the subjects for the
French written exams are not just about literature, our students also receive an introduction to the seventh art. The aim is to develop as much as possible of their general culture, which is so precious and so abused these days.

"If the ultimate goal is, of course, that they obtain their diploma, its corollary is to train them in a real literary culture, demanding and heritage-based."
- Isabelle Despax,
French teacher and member of the maturity jury

Cambridge

From primary school onwards, students take the various Cambridge exams, which certify their level of English.
Our English teacher is a member of the Cambridge exam jury.

“The Cambridge exams, internationally recognized programs, challenge students academically and foster essential skills such as critical thinking and effective communication. As a Cambridge Speaking Examiner, our school has the privilege of being an official exam center where our students prepare for and take various Cambridge exams from a young age.”
- Joëlle Jacquier,
English teacher and certified Cambridge Examiner

Bilingual Section

A bilingual English-French curriculum is also offered at our school, in a dedicated department called the Jewish International School (JIS). General subjects are taught in English three days a week, and in French on the other two days, offering a complete and balanced linguistic immersion.

Computer science

This subject is an integral part of the program, and all students from 3P to the end of their school career benefit from digital and computer science courses, taught by a qualified and specialized teacher. The computer science program, which is inspired by the PER and the NSI option, develops programming and robotics from the youngest classes.

The computer room is highly equipped with cutting-edge technology, so that students can learn all aspects of hardware, software, cybersecurity and robotics. Students are also provided with a tablet that they can use for the various subjects.

Human sciences

Pupils study history, geography and civics in elementary school, followed by economics and law in secondary school. They are also required to write and give oral presentations on a wide range of subjects. Field trips are also organized on a regular basis.

Kodech Subjects

Kodech teaching is structured in such a way as to enable each child
allows each child to become familiar with the practices of Judaism
and intensify their study of the holy texts at their own pace. The
courses are dynamic and cover a wide range of Jewish traditions
traditions: the study of the Houmach, the Mishnah, the Talmud, Jewish history and thought.

True to the motto “Educate the child according to his path; when he grows old, he will not deviate from it”, the school's mission is to offer all its pupils opportunities for success. From primary school onwards, children learn to read two alphabets, French and Hebrew. From one class to the next, they switch from reading from left to right to right to left, and vice versa, without even realizing it. In this way, they practise mental gymnastics on a daily basis. Subsequent Gemara studies and discussions of ancient texts also enable them to deepen their arguments and sharpen their minds. What's more, they learn Jewish values at their own pace.

“The Habad school succeeds in showing children that the Torah and its values are essential to accompany them in a happy and fulfilling life.”

Arts and cultural projects: Visual arts and theater courses

Visual arts courses are offered from an early age. Throughout the year, the school also organizes cultural projects for its students, such as visits to museums and exhibitions, as well as performances. Our students take part in drama classes in French, as well as in theatrical performances. Similarly, as part of the English program, they regularly attend performances in Geneva's English theaters.

Sport: Sports activities

Pupils benefit from weekly sports lessons. Every year, snow classes are organized, offering students the opportunity to take daily ski lessons. These culminate in medal ceremonies, celebrating the progress and achievements of the participants. We also organize major sports days, such as Olympic Games Day, which this year took place on June 24, to showcase a range of sporting activities and instill a sporting culture in our students.

After-school programs

An enriching program combining chess, music and Krav Maga, supervised by professionals and enhanced with a moment of conviviality.

We're delighted to introduce the new Extracurricular activities for 3P and 4P students for the 2024-2025 school year! Held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:00 pm, these activities offer an enriching setting where learning and fun meet.

Among the activities selected, our youngsters will have the opportunity to develop their chess skills, an excellent way of stimulating concentration and strategic thinking. They will also be able to learn or perfect their musical talents, playing a variety of instruments under the guidance of passionate teachers.

For the more energetic, Krav Maga teaches effective self-defense techniques, while promoting self-confidence and stress management. Each session includes a convivial moment with a snack, giving students the opportunity to relax and share with their peers. The activities are supervised by experienced professionals, guaranteeing quality teaching and a safe environment.

These activities are a great opportunity for children to develop and discover new passions. To register your children for after-school programs, please contact the secretariat.
